Mental Toughness Starts With Promises Kept

I want to talk to you today about something that I think is a key ingredient to success in any aspect of life. This ingredient is easily found in anyone that has become successful in their life and if you looked closely at these successful individuals you will know what this ingredient is. I am talking about mental toughness or some may also call it self-discipline/responsibility. Holding yourself to the absolute highest of standards and when you say you are going to do something you do it.

An easy example of this would be setting your alarm in the morning and when it goes off you get up and out of bed instead of hitting the snooze button or setting 3-4 other alarms because you do not want to get out of bed in the morning. Some people may say that they are not morning people but it all comes down to your mental toughness and your mentality to approaching how your life is going to be. Saying that you are not a person is an excuse to take the easy way out and sleep in. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to keep the promises you make to yourself and to hold yourself accountable because it feels so good to know that if you set your mind to whatever it is you want to accomplish you know you will find a way to get it done.

Enough talk about starting something next week or I’ll get to it tomorrow. This is the kind of self-talk that is going to 1. get you nowhere and 2. takes away from your own self-confidence. If you don’t hold yourself accountable daily and take action on the things you need to do to better yourself it is demoralizing and will immediately bring your self-confidence down. You have to get out of your comfort zone to truly grow because always doing what's comfortable and familiar is how you get left behind by the people that are constantly doing something that might scare them. Growth is always on the other side of fear so when you feel that fear just know that if you take action no matter what happens you will be a better person for fighting that fear.

Going back to what we were talking about earlier in this blog and the key ingredient for successful people being mental toughness. If you look at any successful person they are the only one that is holding themselves accountable. There is no one else that is making sure they are accomplishing their goals on a daily basis. They have incredible self-confidence that they believe whatever idea comes into their head or goal they want to achieve they can get it done because their entire life they have always taken action instead of hitting the snooze button or taking the easy way out in our world of convenience.

To smash your goals in whatever aspect of life whether it be in fitness, career or relationships make sure you are holding yourself accountable every day! If you say you are going to do something you better make damn sure it gets done or else you are going to be stuck where you are at never truly getting to your goals.
